Moon’s species is functionally immortal due to their technological advances. A lack of struggle over survival and resources led to entertainment becoming the most precious commodity in Coven society. Fitting then that Moon would find a jester who lives to entertain so intriguing! The Coven controls the distribution of life throughout the universe via Seeds of Synthesis and through advanced technology are essentially playing god - designing lifeforms, terraforming, changing timelines, and generally disrupting the flow of fate. Moon once served as part of The Coven and sought to climb the ladder, but now has grown disillusioned with them.

The Coven managed to escape the inevitable collapse of their own universe by trapping themselves within a white hole that contains the Tree of Synthesis, a physical manifestation of the deity of magic, life, and the universe’s desire to experience itself - otherwise known as Synthope (sin-tho-pee). This has left Entrope (en-tro-pee), the deity of chaos, destruction, and disorder, cut off from their lover and desperate to free Synthope from the clutches of The Coven. When these two opposing forces rejoin, the universe as we know it will end, and from its destruction a new one will be born - a cycle that has continued across eternity until The Coven intervened.

Humans are seen as lesser beings by The Coven as their planet had no Seed of Synthesis. Similar to a kind of wild magic, human life formed from the base elements of the universe and pure chance. Life uh, finds a way. The lack of a magic source on their planet means humans have struggled technologically. Humans cannot synthesize life or restore it once a member of their species has succumbed to entropy, but this short, chaotic existence has led them to be an extremely passionate and ambitious species. It is no surprise that a human might be unwittingly chosen as the Avatar of Synthesis - a human with a fiery passion for life and a seeker of joy and connection. A human like Jimmy.

Entrope is Moon’s patron and the source of Moon’s power to shape reality. In a desperate attempt to free Synthope, Entrope made a pact with Moon, exploiting his desire to prove himself to The Coven. When the deal was made, two of Moon's four arms were ripped from his torso and crystalized into magic and chaos forms allowing him to sculpt reality to his will. Because Entrope’s true form would be incomprehensible, they appear to Moon as a more powerful vision of himself, a mirror of his ego. In exchange for the powers he received, Moon must regularly generate chaos to sustain Entrope. In the universes where jorbos are present, he simply farms their crystals to meet quota. In other universes, destruction and disorder have been left in his wake.
